Details: The purpose of this book is to talk about what it means to live with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Anxiety Disorder (AD). This book will narrate my personal experiences and day-to-day struggle of living with this sickness. This is not a medical book or a research paper. This book is not necessarily a self-help book but I do hope you can learn one or two things from it that can help you in your daily struggle. I am also writing this book to let you know that you are not alone in this fight. No matter what you learn or take away from this book when it comes to mental health issues, please seek help, and do not fail to talk to someone, your physician, therapist, family, friends, etc. Talk to those that truly care about you because you will need them to fight this battle. I am not saying it will be easy to open up and have this conversation or if you would even find them understanding or even able to relate to what you are going through but if you do have these resources, please use them. However, if you do not have them, I suggest you look for them because the time will come that you will be reaching out to these people and it will be good if you have them available for you. Trust me, it can make a difference.
My experiences with MDD and AD might be similar to yours or might vary in intensity but the pain of the illnesses is a force to reckon with, in general. Most people would relate to the experiences I am about to share but then again, when it comes to MDD and AD, the intensity will likely vary. MDD and AD are mental disorders that can carry with them severe consequences affecting your life both physically and mentally. It will affect your mood, your feeling, your appetite, your sleep, your wellbeing, body weight, sociability, work, school, relationships, the list goes on and on. The end result of this can be debilitating, to say the least. This book is a phenomenological exploration of myself and my experience dealing with this sickness. This is not a book that will necessarily give you a solution or solve or put an end to this sickness for you but rather shed more light on the illness for you and the world. It is a book to share my experience and the daily struggle of living with this scary and debilitating sickness.
The book will outline what I go through on a daily basis, what the fight is like, and what I attempt to do to aid and allow myself to move from one day to the next. It is a real-life recount of a living experience and suffering that is connected with having a major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder. It is worth noting that AD includes for me and in my case, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and stressor disorder- which is a version of PTSD.
What I will not talk about in this book includes the types of medications I am on since every person is different. I will not discuss how I ended up having these diseases, this is for the sake of privacy and to protect confidentiality.
